We met on November 20, 2001 when I came over for a photo
shoot at David's studio. We started out as good friends,
spending much time drinking Mexican Mochas in the little
coffee shop down the street, and talking about everything:
life, work, Los Angeles, travel and our respective relationships;
comparing notes and experiences and trying to understand
the other's male or female perspective to gain insight.
One thing about these conversations is that they always
flowed very easily and we were always surprised how long
we could sit and chat.
After a daytrip to Santa Barbara, we talked and David told
me exactly how he felt, that that was more than friendship,
that he could imagine growing old with me, just because
he liked who I was, and that that would remain, even when
I would be old and wrinkly. At that time I saw David as
one of my best friends, I couldn't imagine him as my boyfriend.
After some time apart, because of the both of us traveling,
I came back from Europe on July 19, 2002. That's when it
became crystal clear: we'd been emailing back and forth
and I'd come to realize that one of the main reasons why
I had missed LA so much, was because I had missed him. Without
being consciously aware of it, I had fallen in love with
him as well, with who he was as as a person and what he
stood for.
The rest is history. We both have come to realize what it
means, to have found that ONE AND ONLY person, the person
that meets the expectations and dreams, the person that
is exactly what we'd been looking for, the person with whom
we want to spend the rest of our life.
On November 17 David proposed and even though the subject
had been discussed, he blew me away with his proposal.
On July 20, 2003 – on the 1st anniversary of our 1st
date – we got married during a sunset ceremony
on the beach in Malibu, CA. |
