On November 17, 2002 David proposed to Marieke.

He was having a 'photoshoot', the model wanted 'bikini shots' on the beach, and Marieke agreed to assist on the shoot. Once the shoot was over, David and Marieke finally had a chance to enjoy the sunset on the beach; something they had been planning for a long time, but they'd never gotten to actually do it.
